Pernand Vergelesses les Belles Filles 2006, Domaine Jean Jacques GirardThe ProducerIn 1998 Jean-Jacques Girard became independent from his brother. He and his wife Agnes manage the few hectares in Savigny and Pernand Vergelesses with great care. The most striking thing to note on these wines is the concentration and firmness, without being too harsh in bitterness or tannins. Great balance, with some potential longevity, has been achieved at a very modest price.The WineJean Jacques has acquired a few more vines in this very successful vineyard. It's a mini Corton Charlemagne! The style is often quite forward, peachy, almost aromatic and early drinking. 2006 continues a wonderful string of 3 vintages here; the fresh and natural style makes it more forward that 2005. Uplifting as it is, this has become a Handford cult wine and the more of it you drink, the easier it is to pronounce. Drink 2007 to 2011.
