Handford Wines

Bruno Paillard was born in Reims in 1953 from generations of vine growers and Champagne brokers in Bouzy and Verzenay. In 1981, white only 27, he succeeded in launching the first new Grandes Marques in 100 years. His Champagne style of purity, elegance and finesse soon met with critical aclaim from the who's who of the wine world including Hugh Johnson. Now, with a production approaching 500,000 bottles, of which 70% is exported, Bruno owns 25 Ha of prime vineyards with over 12 Ha of Grand Cru.

The Wine

The 1995 Blanc de Blancs was aged for 10 years on its lees before disgorgement and another 2 years in bottle. This wine is only starting to shine with rich creamy citrus and brioche notes and lovely long length with freshness and zest. There are few better wines that high quality pure Chardonnay Champagnes with suitable bottle age. A real boutique wine with a suitably Mouton Rothschild 'esque label to suit.
