Handford Wines

Ridge has earned the reputation as one of the great red wine producers in North America. The architect of its success has been Paul Draper., wine maker since 1969. He is still as eager to improve and develop as he was when he started out. The winery is ‘low tech’ but Paul uses detailed research and analysis to be on top of every process all the time. Notable feature include an insistence on American oak and designating wines by their geographical designations, rather than by grape variety.

The Wine

This is a big rich earthy, brambley red with massive concentration and depth, mostly of primary fruit flavours at this young stage. One of the classic Zins of Central California that will develop with age into a complex, luxurious red.
