l'Ecole No. 41 Syrah 2004, Columbia Valley
Washington's new hot varietal is Syrah. Traditionally grown in the Rhone valley of France, Syrah is known for its deep, dark, concentrated qualities. L'Ecole Nº 41 began producing small quantities of Syrah from Seven Hills Vineyard beginning in 1999.
With 2% Grenache this has a deep colour, rich aromas of blackcurrant and black pepper and is hugely mouthfilling with very soft black fruit, prunes, tar and caramel.
