St Nicolas de Bourgueil les Malgagnes 2006, Yannick Amirault Vigneron
The 2006 Saint-Nicolas de Bourgueil Les Malgagnes, from gravel soils and also from 45 year-old vines, aged in newer demi-muids – displays aromas of roasted pecan, cooked black cherry, and smoked meats. Juicy, savory and slightly resinous on the palate – with alluring, buddleia-like inner-mouth perfume, this pours on fresh black fruits (with their pits), meat and stony-chalky minerality throughout, mounting a finish of real depth. An excellent effort to follow on from the beautiful 2005 vintage that R.Parker scored 90/100.
