This beautiful '96 Galichets is a superb wine; recently re-released and showing wonderfully well at this stage of its life. Cabernet Franc can be so elegant with some bottle age as the tannins, fruit and earth come together to form a wine of subltle sweet dark fruits, silky mouthfeel and still a bright and juicy character. This wine comes from a 25-acre vineyard planted on stoney, sandy clay going down about one meter to limestone. Galichets was first planted in 1934, and today the vines average 35 to 40-years-old. This vineyard tends to make the domaine’s fruitiest wine.
