WillaKenzie Estate Pinot Gris 2006, Willamette Valley, Oregon
The Producer
Willakenzie Estate has substantial holdings of 105 acres, including 20 acres in Dundee Hills, Willamette Valley. The winery’s release policy typically finds them running a vintage behind their Willamette colleagues. The current wine range includes the entry level Pinot Noir, the Estate Pinor Noir and the special selection Pierre Leon Pinot Noir. Taken in context of the region, they produce some of the more successful Pinot Noir wines of the Willamette Valley in Oregon.
The Wine
Bright and clear with a pale straw colour, the aromas of citrus, blossom and white flowers along with subtle Asian pear, lemongrass, stone fruit and mineral notes. A pleasing round mouthfeel, which ends with a long finish, follows the crisp, clean attack. Fresh and juicy, this is an excellent aperitif or accompaniment to shellfish or seafood. Also try their Pinot Blanc.
