Rasteau Cotes du Rhone Village 2006, Domaine La Soumade"The superstar of Rasteau is Andre Romero who produces five cuvees of drop-dead delicious red wine." Robert Parker Andre Romero must be one of the most enthusiastic and talented growers! The yields are low, the grape mix is mainly Grenache, Syrah and Mouvedre. The wine is matured in cement tanks for one year before spending 6 months in a variety of oak; foudres, demi-muids and barriques. The wines are fined with egg whites but receive no filtration. Andre is well known from Bordeaux, where he exchanges wines with the best of Grand Cru Classe to California where the top growers really appreciate his wines.
