Mudhouse Sauvignon Blanc 2008, Marlborough

The Producer

Set up by John and Jennifer Joslin who were previousy farmers in Essex before deciding to sell up and cruise the world. After six years they dropped anchor in New Zealand and bought twenty acres of vineyard in the heart of Marlborough After building a unique mud block house The Mudhouse Wine Company was born. The vineyards are situated in the Wairau valley which due to the rivers fluctuating course over the millenia has resulted in a range of soil and rock types which help produce a complexity of flavours unique to the area. The Companys winemaker Matt Thomson has more than fourteen vintages under his belt and the winery has won numerous medals and trophies including a gold in the 2005 International Wine Competion and two golds at the Air New ZEALAND Wine Awards.

The Wine

Another very good vintage but with fairly limited yields once again. Wines have excellent purity, intensity and balance. Mudhouse is really hitting its straps in the last 3 vintages. Excellent value for money.
