Pojer e Sandri Nosiola 2007, Vignetti delle Dolomiti IGT (6)

The Producer

Pojer e Sandri is located outside the alpine village of Faedo between the Adige river and the Cembra valley in northern Italy’s Trentino region. Fiorentino Sandri inherited the vineyards in 1975 when he teamed up with wine maker Mario Pojer and set about proving, against all current thinking of the time, that the area could produce world class wines. The farm’s first release of an exquisitely scented Muller Thurgau put Pojer e Sandri on the map and today they are one of Trentino’s best producers. Pojer e Sandri produce a broad spectrum of wines including a Pinot Nero/Chardonnay Spumante, the local white varietal Nosiola and reds to make up their Bordeaux blend, Rosso Faye. They also produce a dessert wine called Merlino fortified with their own brandy, Divino and a selection of top quality grappas.

The Wine

The colour is straw - yellow unloaded with greenish tones. The aromas are light and fleeting with hints of golden apple fragrances. On the palate the wine is light, yet flavorwith with a hazelnut note on the finish. Nosiola pairs well with delicate seafood and white meat courses, shell-fish, soups, soft-ripened cheese or all by itself as an aperitif!
