Cantine Lunae Vermentino 2008, Liguria DOC
The Producer
Cantine Lunae wine firm is located in an extraordinary geographical and historical context, from which Paolo Bosoni, firm’s owner, takes inspiration for strenghtening his vineyards and for creating his wines. The land is extending from hills in front of Apuanian Alps to Ligurian Sea; this land is fertile, irrigated by Magra river, privileged by hot sun and by Mediterranean breeze which gives the wine extraordinary tastes and scents. Cantine Lunae draws from this tradition and from this history, more than two thousand years old, which combined to technological innovation, used in subsequent phases of wine creation, grants an extraordinary quality.
The Wine
Vermentino remains a highly fashionable grape and is available in many different expressions, none more attractive than the Ligurian style. Grown on high slopes overlooking the sea, the expression is more mineral, dusty, and crystalline pure fruited than Maremma or Tuscan versions. White peach, chalk dust, fresh clean acid and fine pear drop and green apple aromatics dominate the wine. Good mid-palate weight and a wonderfully fresh long finish make this a dead certainty for Med-style fish dishes or quaffing al-solo! Drink now to 2013+.
