Brochet-Hervieux 1er Cru NV (37.5cl Bottle) (24)
The Producer
A privately owned house in the village of Eceuil, near Reims. The business has been in the family for six generations.
They own 14 hectares of premium Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vines, refusing to add poorer quality varieties to the blend. The mousse is fine and the colour yellow/gold. The dark colour and full body are the result of a high proportion of Pinot Noir in the blend. In fact, nearly 80% of the vines are Pinot and the flagship of the house is the vintage Rose.
Champagne Brochet Hervieux was favoured by Herge, creator of Tintin, and features in "Destination Moon". The premium wine is named after him - Cuvee HBH.
The Wine
Deep golden yellow with a fine mousse. Fairly intense nose with some red fruit and slightly toasted characters. Full bodied and lengthy flavours with a smooth finish. The wine is well made and has more than adequate bottle age.
Single Bottle: £9.99
In a case of 12: £9.49
