Handford Wines

This father and son branch of the Sabon family continue to produce Chateauneuf in the classical style, using 7 or 8 of the 13 varieties and no new barrels. The resulting wines are more approachable in their youth but do not lose the ability to age in bottle. It's a refreshing approach in a region of too much 'neuf' and not enough 'Château'!

The Wine

Closed now but great structure, weight and chocolate, smoked meat extract with fine tannins and huge length. There is a higher portion of Mourvèdre and a little more Syrah here resulting in a very fine and long lived wine indeed. 2012 to 2020.
