Emilio Lustau Papirusa, Manzanilla (6)The ProducerThe original company was founded in 1896 by Don José Ruiz-Berdejo as an almacenista (a moorish word for warehouse or stockholder), i.e. a small, traditional family business producing and ageing sherries. In the 1940s, his son-in-law Don Emilio Lustau Ortega expanded the business while keeping its role as an almacenista. Lustau's own solera system, based on stocks begun at Lustau's inception as an almacenista itself at the turn of the century.The WineFrom Lustau, one of the greatest sherry houses, if not the greatest sherry house, comes their fresh, salty but delicately fragrant Manzanilla that tastes like the sea. A popular wine that is always in demand. Serve on all occasions but always with some food or nibbles for extra enjoyment.
