Ruinart Blanc de Blancs NV (6)

At the beginning of the 18th century, Dom Thierry Ruinart observed the work of his friend, Dom Pérignon and passed on the knowledge to his nephew, Nicolas Ruinart. In 1729 the first Champagne house was born. Nicolas’ son Claude moved the cellars to the present day site, perhaps the most impressive in the region as it boasts so many of the Romano Gallic chalk pits (“Crayères”), where wines are matured in perfect conditions. Successive generations of the Ruinart family have overseen the production of fine quality Champagnes and travelled extensively to tempt the world with their wares. For more than two and a half centuries the Champagnes created by the House of Ruinart have been carefully developed, according to traditional methods, in the stillness and coolness of the magnificent crayères, which are classified as a historic monument.
