Handford Wines

Founded in 1781 J Vidal Fleury is one of the most respected and important growers and négociants in the Rhône Valley. The veracity of character that each wine shows is a result of long term relationships with growers in all appellations and wine making of the highest quality. The house was bought by Etienne Guigal in 1985. Since then the winery has been modernised and quality is still higher. It will always be Guigal’s intention for Vidal Fleury to retain its identity.

The Wine

While Vidal Fleury can perhaps be accused of being some what of an under performer or a producer that has just not realised its full potential with their red wines, with the exception of their Cote Rotie, they can rightly claim to have created one of the finest Muscat sweet wines in the entire Northern Rhone. The wine has all the muscat hallmark characters of floral, grapey fresh melon and fruit notes and a lot more! What a completely luxurious and complex wine. 93+/100 GWS
