Mas de Daumas Gassac Rouge Coteaux de Languedoc 2005 (6)

The story of Mas de Daumas Gassac is one of the more romantic histories in the trade. Aimé bought the remote farm at Aniane in the Languedoc, in the late sixties. It was a retreat surrounded by woodland, intended for relaxation after the heavy schedule of his family leather business. Some years later, a geologist chum commented that the soil at Mas de Daumas Gassac was ideal for the production of fine wine. Guibert set about plating a range of varieties and released is first red in the late seventies. Acclaimed as the ‘Chateau Lafite of the Languedoc’, demand soon exceeded supply. Returns were ploughed back into the project which continues to diversify. There is now a white, a pink fizz and a range of table wines as well as the world famous red.
