Handford Wines

The Weinrieder Estate is situated in the village of Kleinhadersdorf 50 km north of Vienna in The Weinviertel the largest and most northerly wine region in Austria. The estate consists of 15 hectares of which 12 hectares are planted in the best named vineyards, Birthal, Kulger, Schneiderberg, Hohenleitem and Bockgarten. These south facing vineyards have long been acknowledged as the best in the area. The esate produces high quality white wines, ranging from peppery Gruner Veltiners to racy full flavoured Riesling and rich minerally Weissburgunder. Fredrich Rieder the estate manager makes best sweet wines. The Riesling Eiswein from the Schneiderberg vineyard is sensational.

The Wine

Classic crisp minerally laden Gruner that’s clean, zesty and fresh. No oiliness or heavy notes on this wine. Great alternative to a Pinot Grigio, Pinot Blanc or even aromatic Italian whites of Spanish Albarino's. The grape that Austria has claimed as its own!
