Champagne Brochet-Hervieux 1er Cru Millesime 1999

The Producer

A privately owned house in the village of Eceuil, near Reims. The business has been in the family for six generations. They own 14 hectares of premium Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vines, refusing to add poorer quality varieties to the blend. The mousse is fine and the colour yellow/gold. The dark colour and full body are the result of a high proportion of Pinot Noir in the blend. In fact, nearly 80% of the vines are Pinot and the flagship of the house is the vintage Rose. Champagne Brochet Hervieux was favoured by Herge, creator of Tintin, and features in "Destination Moon". The premium wine is named after him - Cuvee HBH.

The Wine

Prix d'Excellance at the Concours National des Vinalies. 'Nuts, butter and syrupy fruits mixed with lighter touches of white flowers and honey'.
