Description
The grapes that are used to produce the Aalto PS are harvested by hand and inspected bunch by bunch to ensure only the best are selected. Aged for 21 months in new French oak before release, this is a wine for fans of barrel-aged Tempranillo. Long and fresh with well-integrated tannins, the body is full, fruity and elegant, and will gain complexity in the years to come.
The Aalto project was founded in February 1999, in the prestigious winemaking region of Ribera del Duero, Spain. The foundational aim of Mariano Garcia and Javier Zaccagnini was to make a wine that shows a different personality, of high quality and being a faithful reflection of distinct locations, blending them at the end of the aging process to obtain balance and complexity. A few years later, in 2006, the Masaveu and Nozaleda families joined Aalto, both owners of wineries in other regions of Spain, providing experience and stability to the project, which meant the consolidation of the winery to this day. Now with twenty vintages under their belts and a highly detailed understanding of the scores of parcels of old vines they own, Aalto has well and truly established itself as one of the great wines of both Ribera del Duero and Spain in general.
