Description
Abel Mendoza and Maite Fernández have been making understated wines from their old vine vineyards, high up in the Cantabrian mountains near San Vicente de la Sonsierra since the late 80s.
Temperature controlled fermentation in new French Oak barrels followed by 5 months on fine lees. This expression of Viura follows a brilliant portfolio of well crafted single variety whites.
Intense aromas are both floral and herbaceous in character. Chamomile + pea shoot followed by peach and kiwi. The wood is well integrated to offer a balsamic edge but the lees ageing dominates in your mouth with toast, bread dough and almond notes. The wine finishes on dry kiwi fruit and grass.
