Description

6 bottle pack.

Our wonderful new wines from Alkoomi in Western Australia, who don't release their wines until they are at their best – as you'll see from the vintages below! Six bottles of delicious wines, all with a bit of age, at this price? Amazing! But which one will be your favourite?

You'll get two bottles each of:

Alkoomi Icon 'Melaleuca' Riesling 2018 – From the original block of vines planted in 1971, it has a wonderfully evocative nose of sweet lime juice, pink grapefruit and crushed slate, with just enough of that petrol note that Riesling lovers adore and reflects its seven years of age. On the mouth it is rich and round (partially due to a short time on the lees) with kaffir lime, pears, herbal thyme and a clean saline finish. This is a wonderful, mouth-filling Riesling that is really starting to show some maturity.

Alkoomi Icon 'Jarrah' Shiraz 2017 – Elegant and light on its feet and – considering it's a 2017 vintage – the fruit flavours are bouncing like a baby! Deep and dark in the glass, this has a perfumed nose of red and black cherries, smoky dried plums, black pepper, a delicious cigar box note and a touch of dried oregano and fennel in the background. On the mouth it has delicious flavours of ripe red plums, cherries and cranberries, with a delicate leathery oak and a long, spicy black pepper finish.

Alkoomi Icon 'Victrix' Chardonnay 2019 – Absolutely delicious and right at its peak, the Victrix shows aromas of light lemon notes, backed with peach juice, apricot stone and orange blossom, all solidly backed by a reductive gun-flint core. The five years in the bottle are starting to pay out, with notes of brioche and hazelnuts shining through. On the mouth it initially has a focussed steely minerality, then a creamy lemon buttery backbone is adorned with fruit notes of crisp, juicy Granny Smith apples, lime zest, nectarines and just a hint of passionfruit.
