The 2018 Sanford and Benedict Chardonnay has a fine, fresh lemon-scented nose with a sea-salt top note. The palate is pure, precise and fine with a beautiful balance of citrus fruit with the gentle toast of oak. The freshness of the wine gives it vibrancy whilst the red apple and lemon zest notes give way to a stony, mineral and saline core. The creamy texture draws the palate out towards a long and complex finish with all elements in perfect counterpoint. This is a beautifully harmonious wine which expresses both the excellent terroir of this vineyard and the wine making skill of Jim Clendenen and his team. Drink 2021-2030.
