The most characterful example of Piedmont’s native Cortese grape comes from around the town of Gavi, and the wines made closest to the town get to bear the odd double-moniker Gavi di Gavi. The La Meirana is all about freshness and vitality, with apple, citrus and mineral aromas, while the Bruno Broglia bottling is weightier, due to low yields from a selection of 50 to 70-year-old vines.
