Description
Golden in appearance. Initially, the nose shows subtle toasted and smoked notes with a touch of liquorice alongside fruity notes of apricot, blackthorn, quince and fresh almonds. The palate is mineral and taut with excellent freshness, with notes of quince, vanilla and peaches on the mid-palate, followed by a crisp finish.
A lovely vintage which will continue to develop great complexity and generosity over time.
Producer Information: Charles Heidsieck
Charles Heidsieck is the smallest of the Grandes Marques champagne houses. They were once a large producer but have recently reinvigorated the brand by concentrating on quality over quantity.
The Brut reserve has a deep, intensity and complexity because 40% of the blend is reserves wines.
And their Blanc des Millénaires need wider recognition because they truly are superb. Unfortunately, not many bottles are produced. Only 6 vintages have been released since the beginning of the 1980s.
