The wines at Château Tour Saint Paul 2017 displays an attractive, intense red, terracotta-tinged appearance. On the nose, spicy notes enhance elegant, ripe blac berry fruit aromas. On the palate, the wine is supple on the attack, developing relatively fleshy structure from the majority of Merlot used in the blend along with 20% Cabernet Sauvignon.
In 1980, the Yung family, already present in Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux at Chateau Grimont acquired this Bordeaux Supérieur. The name of the castle was chosen in reference to a family tradition that the eldest son of each generation was named alternately Paul or Peter. Thus was created Château Tour Saint Paul in honour of the elder of the two brothers that owned it. Nothing was gained to the resumption of the vineyard. Many of the vines were uprooted in the 70s; it took time and a mammoth task of replanting, mainly Merlot. The cellars boast many ancestral traditions: the grapes are fermented in the original buildings represented on the Castle label. Ownership if the Chateau recently changed once again in 2012 and quality has remained the focus of the new proprietors.
