Description

Muscadet wines labelled 'Sur Lie' must be bottled between 1st March and 31st December in the year following the harvest. 'Confluentia' spent 6 months on its lees, in traditional underground tanks lined with glass. This is a delightful wine that displays a classic citrus and white flower profile, alongside a very attractive texture. It is bold and nicely rounded with a very clean oyster shell freshness on the finish.

Producer Information: Château du Coing

Château du Coing is located in the village of Saint Fiacre, in the Sèvre et Maine district of Muscadet. The current owner and winemaker, Véronique Günther-Chéreau, decided in 1990 to return to her family’s estate after achieving a doctorate degree in pharmacy. Véronique’s family had been making wine at Saint Fiacre since 1421, and she grew up on the estate. In 2011, her daughter Aurore joined the family domaine, following her biology and oenology studies in Dijon.

Unusually for an area dominated by the négociants, Château du Coing is family-run and uses only estate-grown fruit from its 40 hectares of distinctive gneiss soils which lie at the meeting point of the Sèvre and Maine rivers.
