We recently held our 'Classic varieties' tastings, featuring 20 wines each made from single varietals, and we asked all the people there to vote for their favourite wines of the night. We collated up the votes and we have created a mixed case of the most popular wines. You'll get one bottle each of:
Chardonnay – Julien Schaal 'Mountain View' 2022 Elgin – All the class and richness of a good white burgundy at half the price. This got better and better as the night went on.
Vermentino – Val di Toro 'Auramaris' 2022 Maremma – An old Handford favourite which is still wowing people. The always crowd-pleasing Vermentino elevated to new heights. Hints of crysallized ginger!
Chenin Blanc – Simonsig 2023 Stellenbosch – Chenin Blanc under £15 can often be a touch acidic, but this has delicious rounded fruit. An absolute bargain.
Cinsault – Welbedacht Bakleiblok 2022 Wellington – Made from a wonderful patch of old vines, this is warm, rounded red plums and raspberry fruits with a touch of rose.
Grenache – La Collection Pur Sans 2022 St Jacques d'Albas – A real winter warmer. Rich, rounded and absolutely delicious.
Caberet Franc – Saumur-Champigny 'Roche' 2022 Thierry Germain – Ssweet black cherry, currant and cherry stone fruits. Try chilling it in Summer!
