Ampodium is always a superb expression of Côte-Rôtie, coming from 20 different parcels across 15 to 16 lieux dits. The 2021 has a gorgeous ripe red and black fruit nose with textbook black pepper freshness and a granitic lift. The palate is aromatic and fragrant and just so elegant with concentrated cherry and orange blossom notes. Very fine tannins precede a succulent, river stone-infused finish. Drink 2024-2034.

Rene Rostaing is revered for its Cote Rotie. Rene used whole bunch ferments, large oak casks , little new oak. His wines always managed to reflect their terroir.
