Description

With the gradual demise of the Clos des Faulques, Alix is now selecting from old vines both inside and outside of the Clos. The remainder goes to Bourgogne Rouge. She is rightly proud of this one and has instigated an annual tasting to highlight hers and many other great reds in this appellation. I remember tasting this soon after it had fermented and being excited for another go at it. I was not disappointed. Very deep colour with huge concentration, a hint of sweetness to the dense, forest fruits. This shows great poise and a quality level above its station. Very good indeed and worth keeping a few bottles for a decade or more. 2025 to 2032.

Producer Information: Domaine Jean-Marc Millot

Small growers have moved from selling in bulk to bottling at home since Michel Lafarge's grandfather first bottled Passetoutgrains in the 1920s. Jean-Marc took over the family farm and moved to bottling and selling under his name throughout the 1990s. With important holdings in Echezeaux, and the bets bit of Clos Vougeot, his wines have become highly sought after. One of our favourites is the red Savigny, carefully made from vines inherited from his Uncle. He has recently passed the baton on to his daughter Alix.
