Description
Sandy soils in this part of Echezeaux allow free drainage. Continues to fall way short of potential volume (less than 7 barrles out of 14) but exceeds expectations in quality terms. Just the one new barrel. The complexity of game, pepper and spice is hidden deep beneath a robe of ripe red fruits; not the brooding, black fruits of 2015 but a more frisky lively red fruit compote with the most perfect and seamless coating of tannin and acidity. Strong, mineral, expressive and goes on for ever. 2028 to 2039.
Producer Information: Domaine Jean-Marc Millot
Small growers have moved from selling in bulk to bottling at home since Michel Lafarge's grandfather first bottled Passetoutgrains in the 1920s. Jean-Marc took over the family farm and moved to bottling and selling under his name throughout the 1990s. With important holdings in Echezeaux, and the bets bit of Clos Vougeot, his wines have become highly sought after. One of our favourites is the red Savigny, carefully made from vines inherited from his Uncle. He has recently passed the baton on to his daughter Alix.
