Marc Josten & Torsten Klein met, as winemakers, at the local co-op. Until recently, the grapes from their family vineyards in Mayschoss (Ahr Pinot Noir) and Leutesdorf (Mittelrhein Riesling) were sold to that very co-op. However, both men knew that their vineyards had much more potential, and wanted to get the best from their grapes. As a result they set up Josten & Klein in 2011.
An addition to Marc Josten's Schiefer family of wines, this Grauburgunder is from parcels around Leutesdorf in the Mittelrhein. Lovely ripe and pure fruit, packs more of a punch than expected from this variety, with some juicy tropical fruit, mingled nicely with a subtle minerality. 92/100 Greg Sherwood MW
