Dark plummy red in colour, the Topside Syrah 2016 has a beautiful bouquet of black fruit with hints of ripe cherries, rose petal and white pepper. The wine has a soft juicy entry onto the palate. A bold grippy tannin structure anchors the powerful red fruit with hints of herbs and pepper. The finish is long with luxurious fruit balanced with the natural acidity and tight structure.

Keermont Vineyards is a specialist wine estate set in the naturally-formed amphitheatre between the Helderberg and Stellenbosch mountain ranges. In 2001, the Wraith family moved to the Western Cape from Gauteng and in 2003 bought two adjacent farms which today make up Keermont Vineyards. All fruit is from Keermont vineyards, and each with an individual character and story. They aim to express the specific uniqueness of each plot, working with what they can naturally offer. Alex Starey is in charge of the vineyards and of making the estate’s wines. Employed at the start of the redevelopment of the farm in 2005, he enjoys the responsibility of making sure that the vineyards deliver the highest quality fruit to create the best possible wines.
