Description
Entirely owned by the family this beautiful vineyard oversees the entire appellation. It lies below the ruined castle of the Dukes of Montaigu and would have been the pride of Burgundy in the 15th and early 16th centuries. On the plus side this vineyard is high up and quite sheltered and so less frosty. The downside is that it’s a steep slope facing slap bang into the morning sun and so gets the worst of the bud burn on a frosty morning. So less wine but the density is palpable. There is amazing extract and, as ever an expressive red with a wild side to the rich fruit core; wild strawberry, damson and cherry with a slice of truffle, black pepper and a twist of dried herbs. Something different! 2024 to 2032
