The vineyards of Mont du Toit sit on the foothills of the Hawequas Mountain. The French Huguenot founder of the du Toit family established this farm near what is now Wellington in 1691. Back then the land was wild and untamed and abounding in game, yet the family planted the first vines in the area. Only red varieties are planted – Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Shiraz, Alicante Bouschet, Mourvedre, Petit Verdot, Tinta Barocca
