Description
The 2015 Coche is an old vines (70+ years) field blend dominated by Rabigato, Códega do Larinho, Viosinho, Donzelinho and Cercial. It was sourced from vines at 600 meters in altitude and aged in French barriques for 14 months (only 20% new). Caressing and showing its velvet on opening (and a bit of oak), this is solidly built and tightly wound. If the first impression is oak, the wine pulls itself together rather quickly, emphasizing its concentration and lingering finish. It's quite a palate-coating mouthful, but as it airs out, it also shows some transparency and finesse. This is a beauty that should age very well. It is probably not yet at peak, although certainly excellent to drink now.
