6 bottle pack.
Produttori del Barbaresco is that rare thing: a co-operative that values quality over quantity. Even in normal years, Produttori del Barbaresco is one of Italy's ultimate values for your money but, in 2018, they decided not to bottle all their great nine grower crus. So, all their lovely top-notch, premium grapes from this ever-reliable producer have gone into this Super-Vintage release of Barbaresco.
"The Produttori del Barbaresco 2018 Barbaresco is a beautifully lean and luminous expression of Nebbiolo, and that pretty colour should remain intact over time. The aromas are bold and ripe with dark and purple fruit, but the bouquet shows interesting twists with earth, truffle, licorice and grilled herb. As the wine opens in the glass, you begin to notice heavier aromas of raisin and dried apricot." – 93pts Wine Advocate
Producer Information: Produttori del Barbaresco
Produttori del Barbaresco has a long and distinguished history and great wines have always been made here. Prior to 1894, Nebbiolo grapes were sold to make Barolo wine or simply labelled 'Nebbiolo di Barbaresco'. In 1894, Domizio Cavazza, headmaster of the Royal Enological School of Alba and a Barbaresco resident, created the first cooperative, the 'Cantine Sociali', but it was forced to close in the 1920s due to fascist economic rule.
In 1958, the priest of the village of Barbaresco gathered together nineteen small growers and founded the Produttori del Barbaresco. United once again, the small growers continued the work started by Domizio Cavazza, producing only Barbaresco wine and enhancing both the reputation of the wine and the village.
The Produttori del Barbaresco now has 50 members and 100 hectares (250 acres) of Nebbiolo vineyards in the Barbaresco appellation.
