Description

"The 2013 Riservas are off the charts." Antonio Galloni

Full body, dark and ripe fruit, thick on the palate, powerful finish. This edition feels a bit thicker and denser compared to past vintages but Produttori's magic truly comes through the longer the wine ages. Given the fleshiness that will potentially evolve with time, this wine is geared up for a prolonged cellar life.

The 2013 Barbaresco is a beautifully ripe and generous expression that exudes dark layers of black fruit, smoke, leather, grilled herb and Teriyaki smoke.

The Produttori del Barbaresco now has 50 members and 100 hectares (250 acres) of Nebbiolo vineyards in the Barbaresco appellation, which amounts to almost a sixth of the vineyards of the area. Most of Produttori del Barbaresco's production is dedicated to their so-called base wine (which enjoy a very strong following throughout the wine world). In the best years they make a selection of riservas from the various Cru.

Producer Information: Produttori del Barbaresco

Produttori del Barbaresco has a long and distinguished history and great wines have always been made here. Prior to 1894, Nebbiolo grapes were sold to make Barolo wine or simply labelled 'Nebbiolo di Barbaresco'. In 1894, Domizio Cavazza, headmaster of the Royal Enological School of Alba and a Barbaresco resident, created the first cooperative, the 'Cantine Sociali', but it was forced to close in the 1920s due to fascist economic rule.
In 1958, the priest of the village of Barbaresco gathered together nineteen small growers and founded the Produttori del Barbaresco. United once again, the small growers continued the work started by Domizio Cavazza, producing only Barbaresco wine and enhancing both the reputation of the wine and the village.
The Produttori del Barbaresco now has 50 members and 100 hectares (250 acres) of Nebbiolo vineyards in the Barbaresco appellation.
