Description
400km in land from Vancouver, Canada you can discover the Okanagan Valley – British Columbia's boutique wine region that spans from the 50th parallel down to the Washington State border. Quail's Gate are one of the older wineries of the region run and owned by the Stewart family. Initially fruit farmers, the Stewart family swapped from horticulture to viticulture in the 1980s and started holding onto their fruit for estate winemaking in 1989.
Quail's Gate is a breathtaking wine destination on the shores of Okanagan Lake that is able to grow a plethora of varieties on its south-facing volcanic slope.
The Dry Riesling teases with flickers of petroleum and papaya before a rush of succulent lime juice and crunchy green apple. To taste, the flavour is more reminiscent of red apple and nectarine with incredible lift. Technically dry, residual sugar is between 4-6 g/l but is well hidden by the searing acidity. A must try for Riesling enthusiasts.
