Description
52% Cabernet Franc, 6% Petit Verdot, 20% Malbec, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Merlot
Showing a little bit of earthy, savoury, coffee bean, leathery evolution on the nose, the palate is still taut and vital with savoury red and black berry fruits, a fine line of acidity and a long finish of graphite and mineral dust. Perhaps a bit shut down now but another one to watch into the future.

Producer Information: Raats
Winemaking brothers Bruwer and Jasper have established a leading reputation for Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc. Jasper works the vines. Many are old vines on the decomposed grantic soils of Bottelary Hills. Without disagreeing with the popular view, the brothers do challenge the idea that old vines always make more exciting wines. The is best evidenced in the exceptional value Cabernet Francs that give Raats their justified status as the go to Franc producer in the Cape.
