Farmed by Romans and the monks of Tournus alike, Chateau de Lavernette is now one of the most organic vineyards we know.
Part of the winery is an original wine store and press house used by those monks over 500 years ago. Turn left and you see the stream that forms the boundary with Pouilly Fuisse in the Maconnais. Look right for the rolling hills of Beaujolais and this remarkably soft and enticing Cru that is St-Amour.
14th generation Xavier, and his wife Kerrie make this with the gentlest and most natural touch. Bursting with aromas of sweet berries, cherries, grilled meats, loamy soil and liquorice.
Vinified with whole bunches, it is medium to full-bodied, velvety and perfumed, with lively acids and an expansive finish.
