Founded by Pierre Etienne Mellot in 1513, the history of Joseph Mellot spans 500 years and several generations of the Mellot family. In 1882, the family also founded the Auberge Mellot in Sancerre, whose famous guests have included Claude Monet. The family-run estate is today under the stewardship of Catherine Corbeau-Mellot.
Sauvignon Blanc thrives in the flint rich soils of Sancerre, giving the wine its distinctive gun-flint flavours. The La Chatellenie is aged on its fine lees preserving all its freshness and depth. It's crisp with pears and green apples, lemon and lime with slate and flint minerality on the palate.
