Description
Grape Varieties Alvarinho
The Granit is made to better illustrate the mineral side of Soalheiro’s wines, and their granitic terroir. In terms of quality it’s very similar to the alvarinho classico, however the Granit comes from slightly higher altitude vineyards, with more purely granitic soils. Fermentation temperature is also slightly higher to bring out and enhance the wine's minerality.
The result is a very linear and precise wine, still with pure fruit character but a little toned down compared to the the classico. Minerality in spades means a little more texture through the palate too.
Granit has a bright, lemon-yellow colour, exhibiting elegant aromas with more mineral notes. The taste is crisp, dry, and persistent, with more earthy and stony flavours. There is a sensation of saltiness on the palate, reflecting the impact of the granite soils on Alvarinho.
