Tenuta di Biserno 2010 Bolgheri

SKU: 18438 Categories: ,

Fathomless, inky jet-ruby in colour, opulently textured, with a deep garnet rim, this is almost monastic in its dark, reticent, brooding nose, with hints of black cherry, incense and spice, espresso notes and earthy minerals. The palate is much more gregarious, fluid and silk-textured, with sprightly fruit, blackberry and cherry, punctuated by crushed stone minerals. Dense, concentrated and muscular, this is serious wine, supported by ripe, fine grained tannins, through to a long, elegant, powerful finish. (96+/100 Greg Sherwood MW)

Winemaking Approach

Producer Information: Tenuta di Biserno

The project began in 2001 when brothers Lodovico and Piero Antinori , together with their nephew Niccolo 'Marzichi Lenzi, and share-holder Umberto Mannoni , decided to bring it to life and write the story of Tenuta di Biserno and Tenuta Campo di Sasso .

Tenuta di Biserno is located in the commune of Bibbona in the Alta Maremma, bordering the historic village of Bolgheri to the north.

The exceptional terroir, the unique Bolgheri Conglomerate soil, the natural conditions, the wind exposure, and the microclimate combine to allow vines of exceptional quality to grow, which in turn give us wines which are unique, authentic and distinctive.
The Tenuta di Biserno estate extends to over 40 hectares and is situated at 90 meters above sea level. The soils are very stoney, they are principally alluvial, with some calcareous clay, rich in calcium carbonate. The vineyards are cultivated mainly with Cabernet Franc , Merlot , Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot . The combination of the maritime influence of the nearby Mediterranean, and the distinct aspects of different vineyards, results in the two distinct production styles of Biserno and Il Pino di Biserno .
