Blending 60% Cabernet with 40% Merlot, this is a masterclass in those two classic grape varieties with the addition of Tuscan sunshine. Pure, floral and elegant, with a perfectly ripe character and layers of cassis, dark cherry and redcurrant. The flavours are vibrant and balanced, expanding with complexity on the palate. The Bordeaux varietals in this blend emerge beautifully, revealing tobacco, cedar and a graphite minerality on the finish. This is a step up in class and sophistication that can be enjoyed now, or cellared for 3-5 years with ease. Do not miss it.

The palate reveals tobacco, cedar and a graphite minerality on the finish. It possesses a wonderful depth and textural richness. This is a step up in class and sophistication and is a wine that always delivers early in its life – and it offers real value, too. The identity of 2019 with Guidalberto is already giving you a hint of where Sassicaia will be next year. Drink from 2022 to 2027.

The 2019 Guidalberto red blend reveals the characteristics of another warmer, ripe vintage but one which is expressed in its own individual style. This wine is certainly no copy of the 2017 vintage as it asserts its itself in the glass with rich lifted aromatics of jasmine, sweet black cherry, black plum, melted black liquorice and a fabulously charming array of integrated, harmonious, sweet blackberry compote characters. The joker in the pack for this vintage is the fabulously fresh acidity that melts into sweet concentrated black fruit concentration and harmoniously coats the palate. Density and breadth combine with a fleshy opulence that is guided to a long, lingering finish by a tender, vibrant succulence. Quietly, elegantly and almost involuntarily, the Incisa della Rocchetta family set to release the wine that would revolutionise the Italian wine scene creating a totally new genre. the Super-Tuscan. Tenuta San Guido is now a legendary estate and was first planted in the 1940s by the Marchese Mario Incisa della Rocchetta, who noted the similarity between Bolgheri’s terroir and that of the Graves. When, in 1968, Sassicaia was finally commercially released, it took the fine wine world by storm. Cementing its iconic status, in 1994 it was granted its own appellation – Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC.
