Description

Villa Sparina is a family estate in the Gavi district of Piedmont, an area that has specialised in growing Barbera, Dolcetto, and most notably the white grape Cortese, used in the iwines of Gavi. The wines are easily recognisable by their distinctive bottle shape (inspired by an ancient bottle found during the excavation while restoring the estate).

Straw-yellow colour. Fragrance of flowers and apple and pear fruit with hints of peach. Full and rich taste, resulting from the complete ripening of the grapes, which intensify the character.

Producer Information: Villa Sparina

Founded by the Moccagatta family in the 1970's in the hamlet of Monterotondo. Villa Sparina comprises 100 hectares of land, 70 of which are cultivated with local grapes for the production of Gavi and Barbera wine. This fantastic estate regularly produces the finest expressions of these grapes and can now promote its wines through its Michelin-starred restaurant La Gallina. The unique and eye-catching bottle shape corresponds to the Roman amphorae vase found in the truffle-rich grounds during renovations of the Piedmont winery, it was designed by Giacomo Barsanetti.
