Description
Clos de la Hersonnière is located in the heart of the Muscadet Sèvre et Maine appellation in the Loire Valley, France. The vineyard is renowned for its focus on the Melon de Bourgogne grape, which forms the backbone of Muscadet wines. The estate has deep historical roots, dating back to the 17th century. Over the years, it has been meticulously cultivated and preserved by generations of winemakers, with a strong emphasis on sustainable practices and terroir-driven wine production. The name Clos de la Hersonnière refers to the enclosed vineyard (clos). Here, the grapes benefit from the proximity of the Sèvre and Maine rivers, which provide the perfect balance between cooling and reflecting the heat of the sun.
The 2022 vintage is a crisp, fresh, and vibrant expression of the Muscadet style, with remarkable complexity and purity. The nose is bursting with citrus fruits, green apple, and a hint of white flowers. The palate is clean and refreshing, with zesty acidity balanced by a fine, rounded texture, which comes from ageing sur lie (on the lees). This process adds depth and a slight creaminess to the wine. The finish is long and saline, marked by the characteristic minerality of the region, leaving a clean, refreshing aftertaste. This wine is a perfect pairing with seafood.
